6 Words to Reclaim Your Power

RaisedFist1Do you want to reclaim your power in your life? Use this tool to eliminate victim thinking by changing the stories you tell yourself and other people.

Big thanks to Tracey Trottenberg of Amazing Women International for this gem.

“Up until now… in the process…”

It’s simple. All you have to do is filling the blanks. First, briefly explain what has been holding you back. Next, explain how things are going to be different now.

For example:
“Up until now I have not liked dogs. Now I’m in the process of realizing their potential value in my own life.”

This self talk is significant for me. For many years, I’ve told myself and other people, “I hate dogs.” I’d had plenty of bad experiences with dogs to come to this conclusion. But that thinking, that “story,” is not serving me any more. I have lost enough vision that I might really benefit from the help of a guide dog.

Following are some potential stories people could benefit from changing. You may notice words like “always” and “never” are common in this kind of thinking.

  • “I always attract irresponsible men into my life.”
  • “I’ve always struggled with my weight.”
  • “I never have enough money.”
  • “I’m just too busy to take care of myself.”
  • “I have a hard time getting to work on time.”
  • “I’m really bad at remembering peoples names.”

Feel free to share any new stories that you will be telling from here on. Would love to see you reclaim your power.
