Your Road Ahead

Zzyzx RoadWhere is your current life path taking you? What is your road ahead?

I find that a great many people don’t consider where their life is heading. They are in their job because it was convenient – it was available. They live where they do, not because they chose it, but because it was on the easy path.

If you stay on your current path, where will you end up? Will you be creating the legacy that you want? Are you picking the most amazing life experience and making the biggest impact the world that you can, or are you just settling for what’s the least effort?

No one will blame you for taking the easy path. That’s what everyone else is doing. It’s the safe path. You take a job because you need one, not because it will take your career to the next level. You pick a charity with which to get involved because it’s there, not because it will grow you as a person or make an impact about which you are passionate.

But the easy path isn’t extraordinary. Extraordinary people take the hard path. That’s what makes them extraordinary. Extraordinary is never found in the low hanging fruit.

And it’s not as if these people are special. You have skills, talents, gifts, aptitudes and amazing abilities. Why wouldn’t you use them for something extraordinary? Extraordinary is in you.

What is your road ahead? Where are you most likely to end up if you do nothing new? If you are honest with yourself, are you good with that? If so, really? I’m not talking about fame or riches or an expansive lifestyle. Are you good passing through the world and having a small impact on people’s lives – impacting only your kids for instance – that it really didn’t matter much that you were here on this planet?

If you’re not good with that, you have a choice to make. You can do nothing new and be very disappointed at the end of your life, or you can choose change today – I mean right now.

What is your road ahead?
