Take a moment to visualize how it will feel when you are making your own unique positive impact in the world. When we are able to really visualize what we want and experience the related emotions, we can get excited about how awesome it’s going to be. It may feel a little awkward at first if your not used to doing exercises where you visualize your desired end results. Give it a try. This type of visualization can help make your dreams regarding having a positive impact come true.
Sit quietly with this little meditation and relax while you visualize the following scene:
It’s been a long day. Long but satisfying. You go over to your favorite chair and settle in. It’s been a great day and it’s time to relax and reflect.
You take in a relaxing and deep breath… slowly in through the nose and slowly out again through the mouth.
You’re feeling good about your day’s activities. You remember how it felt when someone paid you a compliment earlier today about your efforts to create positive change. Now, the thought of it warms your heart. Your next thought is of the “thank you” you got this afternoon. It feels good deep down inside.
You are experiencing a deep sense of satisfaction. In your gut, things feel right. You’re feeling like your life is in alignment with your deepest values. This is the sense of satisfaction you’ve been yearning for. It feels really good!
Tomorrow is a new day. Your mind starts to anticipate what the day holds for you. You have important things to do. Your life has purpose. So you’ll need to be focused and deliberate.
You begin to ponder the possibilities for having even more impact. The possibilities excite you. There’s a slightly tingly sensation in your tummy. Is that excitement or a touch of nervousness? Either way it’s fine. You enjoy another deep breath.
You consider the lives your work touches… How those lives are different because of you… Each life has a distinct “before” and a different “after.” You’re the person making that difference.
As you check in with your head, your heart and your gut, it all feels good and right. You are doing what you need to make your own unique impact.
You relax further into your chair and breathe a deep sigh of contentment. You are doing it!
