Time to Recommit

handshakeHello. I’m Leena, Rena’s Braille Instructor. I want to talk about recommitting to my calling. For me, commitment is a 100% integrity and intention. It means that I will do what I say I’m going to do no matter what it takes. Re is a prefix meaning again. To recommit then is to reset my intention to pursue an agreement I broke with myself or others. In my case, returning to the pursuit of my true calling.

Since I was 18, I’ve known my calling. I was to be a diplomat bringing people together in foreign lands. This would manifest itself in powerful dreams of people crying out to me for help in various languages. My focus was the Middle East and bringing Jews and Muslims together. My goal was to build a school in Israel to work with young children who had disabilities.

As it happened, money became difficult and I chose to get a job as a teacher. It was offered to me at a convention and I took it as a sign. Still, I had the dreams and I felt unfulfilled again after a few months. Since I started teaching though, I stopped going to school and stopped working on my goal. I tried to go back online, but I chose to stop because the program had nothing to do with my goals.

Through reading this blog and talking to Rena and other supportive friends, I was reminded powerfully of my calling and the importance of living it. I got back into the personal development arena and was reminded through exercises that I had to win along with other people. Knowing this, I recommitted to myself to pursue my true calling: to bring my school to Israel and teach peace to the children. So far, I have reenrolled in school with a major in International Relations with a concentration in Peace and Security. I have my first three semesters planned out. I am truly excited to be back on the right path.

That said, I want to conclude with two things. It has been said to me several times that intention is increased by telling people what I am doing. Therefore, I commit to anyone reading that I will focus on my true calling. Please feel free to keep me honest if I start to get derailed. Finally, I want to encourage anyone who has said or thought that it was too late to follow their greatest dreams to recommit to their passions and goals. It’s never too late to recommit to having the life you want.

Thank you Rena for the opportunity to share my story and thank you everyone for reading.
