Have you ever taken a stand for something? Maybe someone was falsely accused of something so you stood up for that person. Maybe there was an issue that you wanted to help out with so you took a stand for that issue and did something to help. Maybe during this presidential election, you’ll stand up and make your vote count.
We have many opportunities to stand up for something. There are many needs placed before us and many opportunities to fill. We can volunteer for this organization or donate to that fundraiser. We are told that our $40 a month contribution will really “make an impact.”
All those things are great. But we are capable of something far greater. Instead of just taking a stand, we can be a stand.
What is something you could really be a stand for? What is one thing that could be a theme of your life? What is something that’s a fantastic expression of who you are in the world–a reflection of your deepest-held values?
For what are you willing to BE a stand?
To be a stand, you can’t simply check in and out of it. Rather, it’s an essential part of who you are. A deep desire that cries for you to take action. And it doesn’t go away.
When you are willing to be a stand for something, it becomes your purpose and your calling. It’s your life’s legacy.
You may read our blogs or listen to our radio show and be thinking to yourself about something good you want to do in the world. Rather than thinking in terms of what to “do,” I’m challenging you here to go deeper. What are you willing to be all about? What are you willing to be a stand for?
Is it literacy, safety for women, financial independence, or freedom from alcoholism? Is it instilling a belief in oneself in children? Is it preventing elder abuse or helping immigrants to see their potential?
What are you willing to be all about?
If you’re not sure what you’re willing to be a stand for, you have some options. You can talk to us, John or Rena, to see what it’d be like to get some help in getting that clarity. You can schedule a discovery session or call us at 916-783-2622.
If you’d rather do it on your own, you’d better get into action. In our experience, it took several years for us to get clear on our life’s purpose on our own. We needed to try and tweak and try and tweak until we figured it out. (Even then, it was the thoughtful observation of a business coach that helped us switch direction toward what we’re doing in Simply Great Lives).
There are people who need you to step up and make that difference in their lives, so get going on it now.
We know that you have what it takes to change lives. Don’t just take a stand here and there. Be a stand for what’s most important to you.
