Starting Over

Braille Sense U2Starting over can be really hard. It’s possible, though, that we might need to start over in some area of our lives when we are seeking to live our calling. We may have to approach it like a beginner and admit we have a lot to learn

Jon Acuff wrote a blog a couple weeks ago about what it’s like to become an entrepreneur. Basically, he said it’s a great way to learn that you don’t know anything. It’s a pretty humbling experience.

Today I received the Braille device I have been looking forward to for so long. I thought it would be super nifty to use it to write a very simple blog. No dice. I have too much to learn.

Heck, I guess it’s pretty great that I was able to turn on its wireless, connect to our wireless Internet and get online.

I’ll be honest, it’s hard approaching it like a beginner and not knowing what I’m doing. It’s challenging enough just typing in Braille, let alone memorizing all the keystroke commands. This is just going to take a while. That will just have to be okay.

The main reason I’m doing all of this is to be able to read my notes when I present and teach. Audio is not a satisfactory solution and reading notes with my eyes is no longer an option.

The discomfort and frustration of starting over is a necessary part of living my calling. As tough as it is now, I know it will be worthwhile when I can stand in front of a group and share our message with grace and ease.

How about you? Is there anything new you need to take on and learn in order to live your calling? Is there any area where you need to do some starting over?
