Our “A Game”

a-gradeImagine that you bring your “A game” in your job or whatever you’re doing. I bring my “A game” to my work. Your co-workers also bring their “A game”, and your neighbors do the same. We all bring our “A game”. What would it be like if I brought my best work, and you brought your best work as did everyone?

Instead I see a lot of folks with a minimalist attitude. Companies pay their employees just enough so they don’t quit. Employees do just enough work to not get fired.

We get mad (or is it jealous?) at people who are highly successful. We think it’s not right for them to be so successful, and we think we should put laws in place to prevent such success.

We take minimal risks. We make sure we don’t stand out in the crowd. We make sure we don’t do anything crazy like start that new business idea we had. We don’t write that book we’ve always thought about writing.

But instead of racing to the bottom, what if we raced to the top? What if all of us brought our “A game”? What kind of success would we experience? What kind of world would we create? I honestly don’t know all the effect and ripple effects we’d see. In my heart, though, it seems like it would be liberating and inspiring.

In case you are wondering, bringing our “A game” is our calling. Our calling lines up in the center of our greatest strengths. It is in sync with our deepest passions. And our calling makes a meaningful impact in the world. We shouldn’t fear it. It should be natural. Our calling is our “A game.”

When we live our calling, we will find deep satisfaction and have a lot of fun.

Today, let’s create this “A game” world. That book we wanted to write? Let’s write it. That business idea we wanted to pursue? Let’s pursue it. That social program we wanted to create? Let’s create it. That relationship we wanted to heal? Let’s heal it. That fitness program we wanted to join? Let’s join it.

Today we bring our “A game”. Today we start.
