I’ve been working to clarify the message I want to share with the world. I considered the rich symbolism in the names of different candy bars and decided it could be a great place to start.
I’ve been sharing John’s message and now I want to share my own message. To some it might look the same, but to me, it’s my own message. Taking ownership of it is, for me, super-important. It will be more powerful than trying to share someone else’s message (even if that someone else is my husband).
I think it would be fun to convey my message in a bag of candy. Imagine how cool it would be to receive a clear bag of candies with an attached card explaining the significance of each one:
Pop Rocks
Reality check: Did you know you are impacting people all around you?
Mr. Goodbar
You can choose to make that impact a positive one.
100 Grand
First, decide you are going to bring a ton of value to other people’s lives.
3 Musketeers
Then, get focused by combining your strengths, passions and what makes a meaningful impact.
Lifesavers
One person can really make a difference! Just consider who’s been a positive influence in your own life.
Butterfinger
Taking action is important. There are people who need you to step up and make that difference, so don’t let time slip by!
Snickers
In the end, you’ll find that what really satisfies is making a focused and positive impact on other people.
I can’t take all the credit for this nifty idea. Someone shared “The Working Women’s Survival Kit” way back when I used to sell Mary Kay. It was a little cellophane bag of miniature candies. The card said, for example, a Blow Pop was to help you blow off frustration and Starbursts were for a burst of energy when you needed it most.
I handed out a lot of those candy kits and they were very well received. If the recipient was interested, I entered her name in a free drawing for $25 in Mary Kay products. I actually built a decent customer base using those little bags of candy.
My new candy kits are pretty different from the original ones. The little gift itself expresses the message I want to convey. It’s not just a nice excuse to make contact with someone. To be most helpful, though, I should also include a link to our blog so they can get information on how to make more of a positive impact. Signing up for our blog gives people the first four chapters of our book, “SPLASH! Increase Your Life’s Impact,” too. That would be a great place to start for anyone who wants to make a difference in the lives of other people.
It’s an unusual way to share an important message with people. What do you think? Would you be happy if you got a Positive Impact bag of candy?
