2015 is almost here. It’s a great time to reflect on 2014, and set to make goals for 2015. Last blog I talked about how to set goals. This time I want to talk about how to make 2015 the best year yet.
While setting goals is an essential part of making 2015 a great year, there are a couple of fundamental things that trump even goals.
Risk
The first thing is to take a risk, or two or three. Life is way too short to play it safe all the time. At the end of our life we will regret the thing we didn’t do far more than the things we did.
I’m not talking about thrill seeking like jumping out of airplanes. I’m talking about putting ourself out there – like doing something new for the first time. This might include starting a business, talking to that neighbor we’ve always wanted to connect with, or volunteering at the local soup kitchen, or it might be none of these. Whatever you feel tugging at your heart, don’t ignore it. Take a risk.
Heart
The second thing is to connect to our heart. We spend way too much time dealing with facts, figures, what if’s, rights, wrongs, and the how of things. We get stuck analyzing things. Instead, we should connect at a heart level.
We can connect at a heart level by sharing our dreams and our fears with each other. We can listen for the topic beneath the topic. We can share affirmations and just be accepting of each other. We’ll find much more satisfaction in 2015 when we connect on a heart level with each other.
Purpose
The last thing is to find our higher purpose. We need to be “going somewhere” with our life. Otherwise, we’re either just dreaming, or we’re just busy. Our purpose doesn’t just pop in on a rainbow unicorn. It takes effort, and it’s a process.
One key thing to keep in mind, is living our purpose requires us to become more of who we already are. Our purpose doesn’t require us to become someone else out there. It’s unique to us and it pulls in our strengths, our personality, our passions, and our experiences.
If you find this helpful and want to dig deeper to make 2015 your best yet, you might find our book helpful. If you’re interested, you can get our book here, or here.
Whatever path you take, our wish is for your 2015 to be your best yet. Happy New Year!
