Often we think of love as a feeling. Love is a feeling, but we often forget that love is also an action. Love responds. It doesn’t just sit idle.
Pursuing your calling and making an impact in the world, really is your love in action. That’s why it’s so important to connect with your passion. When you pursue your calling there will not be a boss looking over your shoulder, driving you forward. You will need to be self motivated. Your love for people needs to be stronger than any discomfort and challenges you’ll face.
Without a connection to that passion and that love, the moment it looks too hard, it brings up fears, or it challenges your self-image, you’ll stop.
On the other side, true passion and love requires action. If you have a deep passion to end sex trafficking, do something about it. Don’t assume that someone else will do it. If you grew up with domestic violence, if you were involved in bullying, if you were homeless, had crappy bosses, experienced death of a loved one, or went through some really tough challenges and you can’t stand to see other people facing the same thing alone, take action. If you had an awesome boss or teacher, you got to experience amazing parenting, or you had some other really awesome experience and you want to pass that on, don’t think someone else will do it.
Real love requires a response. This, in a nut shell, is your calling.
The Christmas season is here again. In this season, we at Simply Great Lives, celebrate the birth of Jesus. We get to celebrate that God’s love also responds. Jesus is God’s love in action. And Christmas is when we celebrate that hope entered into the world. Before Jesus we had no hope of reconciling to God. Then one Christmas day a baby was born, and everything changed.
All this because love responds.
