I Could ___ All Day Long

WatchDo you have something you love doing so much you could do it all day long? OK, I’m not talking about relaxing on the beach or sightseeing in Paris. What do you enjoy doing that could benefit other people that you could do all day long?

Personally, I love developing stuff: programs, seminars, assessments, ways of explaining things. Seriously, I could do that all day long. And I’m not tired after doing it, either. I’m pumped.

“Developer” is one of my top strengths (see “StrengthsFinder 2.0” by Tom Wrath.) I really love developing stuff. And I found a way to use that strength to benefit other people. I do a lot of developing for Simply Great Lives. I use my developer strength as a part of implementing my positive impact in the world. Actually, I get to use all my top strengths in this work: developer, empathy, restorative, learner, and achiever. The fact that I get to use so many of my strengths is probably one of the reasons I am so pumped about what we do in Simply Great Lives.

Searching our strengths and passions can reveal how we want to make our own unique difference in the world. When we do something we are passionate about and utilize our strengths, we have a lot of power to impact the lives of other people. Our impact needs to involve something we’re really excited about and really good at doing. The neat thing is, there’s a lot of flexibility in how we will make our impact. So there will naturally be creative ways to utilize our strengths to move on our passion.

I encourage you to go ahead and consider what’s something you could do all day long. What is a way you could do it to make a difference? If you would like some support in your exploration, consider attending our seminar, Life’s impact Academy 101, September 19-20. We will guide participants through some powerful exercises to help them explore their strengths and passions and find creative ways to combine them to make a unique and positive impact in the lives of other people.

Feel free to comment and share about how you are using your strengths to make a significant difference.
