Han Solo is a role model of the ideal American. He’s confident. He’s witty. He’s a rugged individualist. And Rena says he’s hot. In many ways, he’s everything we aspire to be. Unfortunately “flying solo” is also very limiting.
When we fly solo, we miss out on a lot. We miss out on the support of others. We miss out on perspectives that we won’t otherwise consider. We miss out on loving, truthful feedback. And we miss out on amazing accomplishments that can only be achieved by a community. All of this adds up to quite a bit.
We had an amazing time at our Authors Tea the other evening. We shared some of our dreams of how we would like to change the world (or at least a part of it). One of the awesome things that happened is a few folks had their dreams woken up. Some had been squashed so much at work that they hadn’t considered in quite a while that they could made an impact in the world. Others took note of some ways they’re already making a difference and considered that some of these impacts could be deepened.
While the Authors Tea is just a start, awesome things can happen when even just ten people get together to impact the world. What an incredible example of the power of community.
