We all need support to live our calling. Admitting we need that help can be hard, though.
On Friday I got good news from Guide Dogs of America. I’ve been approved to get a guide dog. When I got off the phone, I was overwhelmed with emotions.
I felt excited, relieved, anxious, and sad all at the same time. The sadness seemed the strangest of my feelings. It came from the recognition that my eyesight has deteriorated enough that I could really use some help getting around. It’d bee safer and easier. And I’ve had plenty of people tell me they wished they had gotten their guide dog earlier.
Despite all the benefits, part of me doesn’t want to admit I need help. I just like being independent. But some things in life are important enough to go ahead and get some support anyway.
I decided to write about my present experience to challenge you all to take a look at your own situation to see if you have all the support you need. I encourage you to evaluate if you could benefit from some additional support.
Following are some examples of support that may be useful as you seek to discern your purpose and to live your calling:
- a business coach
- a mentor
- a class or other instructor
- accountability partner
- mastermind group
- seminars
- support group
John and I would love to support you in this journey. Our book, “Splash! Increase Your Life’s impact” outlines how to find your purpose and live your calling. Also, we are working on a live workshop where people will actually develop their Personal Purpose Statement. If you think you would benefit from getting support in discovering your purpose in life, be sure to subscribe to this blog to receive information about this workshop as it becomes available.
