Don’t Just Leave a Legacy, Live It!

Legacy: qauote: "We all die. The goal isn't to lie forever. The goal is to create something that will."What do you want your legacy to be?

Option A:

You could leave a million dollars to your favorite charity. That way, once you are gone, they can use it to make a difference in people’s lives. If you save up your money instead of using it during your own lifetime, you will likely be able to accrue more money through compound interest. You could spend your time earning money and spend your extra time doing fun stuff. Let the experts handle the changing other people’s lives.

Option B:

Or would you prefer to use your time, energy and money while you are alive to impact people’s lives now? If you work to impact people during your lifetime you can judge for yourself if the money is being used well and producing the desired results. Also, you would be able to enjoy the satisfaction of making a difference to other people.

To be fair, there are more than two options. There are always lots of options. For example,if you wanted you could actually combine the two options: Positively affect people’s lives now and save money to leave for the benefit of other people when you are gone.

As you consider the options, keep in mind that there are people who are in need now More than likely, there will be people in need when you’re gone, too. But the people around you right now may not get what they need if you don’t step up now.

I’m suggesting we should have a sense of urgency around being of service and benefit to humanity. The norm may be to gather riches in life to leave for other people, but we want you to consider living your life differently. Be wise with your money so you can be generous later, but don’t neglect the priceless opportunities that lay before you now. People are counting on you to make your contribution to humanity with your time, attention, love and compassion sooner rather than later.
