I’ve been reconsidering our companies tagline. Currently, our company’s name and tagline are: “Simply Great Lives–Find Your Purpose. Live Your Legacy.” It’s OK as it is. But I’m thinking the tagline could be better.
I got to thinking about it as I considered how to describe to people what we do at Simply Great Lives. I wanted a clearer, succinct way to explain it to people. What is the problem we solve? Then it came to me. We show people how to make their lives matter. So we’re considering a new tagline: Make Your Life Matter.”
I pictured myself at a business mixer event. Someone asks me the age-old question: “So, what do you do?”
And I answer, “I show people how to make their lives matter.”
I thought, “Man, that’s cool!” That’s something I want to be known for.
I think it would be pretty cool if everybody had their own personal tagline. In just a few words, they could effectively express what they are all about. It would probably be very similar to the Personal Purpose Statement our coaching clients create. It is a short and powerful description of who we are and what we are accomplishing with our lives.
Following are some examples of personal purpose statements from our book, “Splash! Increase Your Life’s Impact.”
- Developing leaders who multiply
- Launching inner-city kids
- Standing in the gap for single mothers
- Sticky teaching for ADH…, squirrel!
- Connecting needs and resources
- Restoring women’s power
- Promoting positive on purpose impact (my updated purpose statement)
- Speaking life into humanity (John’s purpose statement)
- Building homes, communities and hope (a condensed version of Habit at for Humanity’s mission statement)
I encourage you to consider creating your own personal tagline. What is your life all about? What do you want to be remembered for when you are gone?
