Stress management is an important part of having enough energy to find and live our calling. We have seen over and over that when people are really stressed out, they don’t take the steps necessary to make a real difference in the world. They may want to live with purpose and significance, but they fail to follow through on their dreams.
I attended a women-in business event earlier this week. Debi Gaul, a certified massage therapist with Helping Hands Massage Therapy, was one of the speakers. She gave all the attendees a bookmark with 12 great tips for reducing stress. I thought it was such a fine collection of “de-stressing” techniques that I wanted to share them here.
- Our thoughts become our reality. Find a positive in every situation.
- Begin each day with 5-10 minutes in silence and practice deep breathing.
- Smile against stress. Notice how a smile lightens the load.
- Only commit to what you can easily do. Learn to say no.
- Find humor in one situation, every day.
- Express gratitude each day and see how blessed you are.
- Enjoy a blast from the past. Blow bubbles, hula hoop, listen to oldies. Free your mind.
- Do something you love every day.
- Take a walk and notice the little details of your surroundings.
- Stretch and relax your mind. Try yoga or tai chi.
- Look at life through the eyes of a child. Love unconditionally.
- Get a massage at least once a month for the mind, body and soul.
So, go and de-stress yourself. Give these a try and share your experiences here.
