Do you have a dream to make a big difference, but you’re not sure how you can get paid to do it? I’m a firm believer that where there’s a will, there’s a way. And, when we get clear on the distinct difference we want to make, it opens up lots and lots of options to make it happen.
Remember, there is an important distinction between the result we want to create and the means we choose to get that result. The result is the impact, the difference we make. The means is the way we choose to achieve it. There are many means to any given end. Therefore, there is certainly a way for you to get paid to make the difference you want to make in the world.
The first time We helped a client with this specific need, I felt a little nervous. Could we find her something that’s a great fit for who she is and the difference she wants to make and have her get paid for it? Yes, we did. Since then, I’ve come to understand that getting paid is a viable option for making an impact.
There are a variety of ways to get paid making a difference in people’s lives. You don’t have to choose a difference based on whether or not you can get paid for it. You can stick with the specific difference you want to make and then find a way to get paid for it.
Check out these different options:
- You can do it as an employee where the employer is paying you for the difference you are creating.
- You can do it as an entrepreneur where the people receiving your products or services pay you directly for them.
- You can create or be a part of a non-profit organization where the products or services are paid for by a third-party instead of being paid for by the recipients.
Take some time to explore the possibilities for getting paid to make your own unique, positive impact. You don’t have to volunteer to make a difference.
And don’t settle for a smaller impact than what you really want to create. It’s easy to take an established path: “I’ll just sell this line of products. It’s already set up as a business and I can just get started right away.” We can’t assume that peoples lives are being changed because they buy our stuff. We need to check in with them to make sure their lives really are being changed.
