It’s not too late to finish 2015 strong. There is still time to accomplish some great results. In order to do it, though, you may need to have a shift in thinking. Let’s examine a mindset that will really move you forward even now.
In our book, we talk about the “Empowerment Mentality” in which people recognize the awesome power they have to make new choices in life. Many people say, “I have to do this” or “I can’t do that.” A much more empowered way to speak is to say, “I choose to do this.” Just a simple change in language can make a huge difference! So we can replace, “I can’t afford to buy that” with “I choose to use my money for things that are more important to me.” It’s great because it generates a sense of power instead of powerlessness.
So, as many (or maybe even most) people shut down their forward motion this time of year, you can choose into something else. To be honest, we hardly ever HAVE to attend a holiday party or buy an expensive gift. The truth is that we have a choice. We can choose those things if they really are important to us and that’s OK. Let’s just make our choices match up with what we value for how we use our time, energy and money.
So, now that you know your awesome power to choose, I encourage you to consider what goals you had for 2015 but haven’t achieved yet. It may be too late to lose 20 pounds, but you can certainly put some great habits in place to move you toward that goal. Did you have some financial goals like setting up a trust? I bet your financial professional would be happy to meet with you to get that going.
Here’s a piece of encouragement: you have the power to keep moving forward. There is no need to lose momentum because of the holidays. It’s not necessary to drop your progress and pick it up again after the new year. That’s what average people do, but you aren’t average, you’re exceptional!
